Steel Gasket precision waterjet cut for an old engine case

This old engine case is from an old collector’s car and our customer specializes in re-manufacture parts and restoration of these old vehicles. They wanted a master gasket water jet cut from 1.5mm thick steel sheet. We only had the old engine case to work from. Using our photogrammetry digistising process we were able to get the data we needed to be able to create the cad pattern for waterjet cutting.

The engine case had various e protrusions and holes at different heights which made it more challenging to get the digital data needed for the cad pattern so we could get the steel gasket water jet cut.

We set it up on the bench and placed coded targets around the engine case and on various key levels/points.

This allows us to pick up the points in our photogrammetry digitizing software.
